Looking for holiday hostess gifts? Shopping for something unique and tasty for friends and family? There are some really delicious food gifts in and around Denver right now! These small batch, artisanal treats are from businesses that I know and love:
Ice Cream
Little Man Ice Cream is offering up Holiday Freezer Packs! For my money, this is the best ice cream in Colorado. Smooth and creamy and packed with flavor. A freezer pack includes 4 pints: Salted Oreo, Ginger Snap, Vegan Hot Cocoa (good news for the lactose-free folks!) and 16th Street Chocolate ($30). There’s also an ice cream sandwich pack with assorted flavors, 4 for $25. You can put together a custom pack if you go to the Ice Cream Factory location to order. Order ahead by 12/17, pick up 12/23 and 12/24.
Pie
Colorado Cherry Company is taking holiday pre-orders! I recommend ordering as soon as possible because they sold out for Thanksgiving two weeks in advance. For Christmas I’m particularly interested in the Peppermint Mocha French Silk. I can vouch for the classic cherry pie as well as the Apple Bourbon Caramel. Bonus: pre-order savory pot pies and quiches for easy dinners so you can enjoy family time over kitchen duty.
Cookies
D Bar, which is my family’s special place for any excuse to celebrate, is selling Christmas cookie kits! Let D Bar create cookie magic for you and your kids (or your book club?). Cookies, frostings and edible decorations are included. Other D Bar offerings that would make great food gifts: a cinnamon roll 6-pack for breakfast the morning after your holiday revels, a 6-piece macaron gift or the Signature Cookie Box (2 dozen cookies and 6 macarons for $55). Also, through December D Bar will round up a $75 gift card purchase to $100. I encourage you to give the gift of D Bar! My family will never tire of crue fries, bacon mac-and-cheese, D Bar dates, churros (they melt in your mouth) and 3-layer chocolate cake.
P.S. The Denver Post has a free foodie newsletter that I love and highly recommend. If you want to know what’s new in the restaurant scene (pop-up Christmas bars with over the top decorations!) sign up here. You don’t need to have a Post subscription to receive the newsletter and read most of the articles that it links to.
