Who’s got two thumbs and three pounds of rhubarb in the fridge? This gal!
I feel like we always had rhubarb growing in the garden when I was a kid, and one of the ways we liked it best was stewed, warm from the stovetop, over a scoop of vanilla ice cream. My mom still cans her own rhubarb jam each spring, and I’d love to do the same except my rhubarb comes from the grocery store (until farmers’ market season) so it’s more economical for me to use it in some special treats now, then beg a jar of jam off my mom later.
To that end, once again I’m poring over my favorite rhubarb recipes and looking for new ones, too. I’m partial to rhubarb + strawberries, so there’s a lot of that combo in the recipes I’ve assembled here. I’m going to bake some of these over the next couple of weeks and will share my results on Instagram (and hopefully with some friends and neighbors!). In case you’re on the rhubarb train too, here you go:

What I’m listening to: I’m devouring the new podcast, “Wiser Than Me with Julia Louis-Dreyfus” in which the fabulous host interviews older women of note about the wisdom they’ve accumulated over the years. It’s one thing to read, “You have to do the thing you’re afraid of” on a meme, and another to hear the very accomplished Ruth Reichl saying it’s the most important thing she’s learned in her 75 years as a writer and 6-time James Beard Foundation Award winner.
